RANDOLPH D. LEE, O.D.
Dr. Lee is a third generation Idahoan. His great grandparents homesteaded near Orofino in the late 1800's. Both his parents attended Weiser High School, Dr. Lee was raised in Boise and graduated from Boise High School and Boise State University. He is a graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry in Oregon and did an internship at the State University of New York in Manhattan.
Dr. Lee has been active in the state and national Optometric Associations since graduation, He served on 4 national committees for the American Optometric Association. He was President of the Idaho Optometric Association in 1987. He has been awarded the Idaho Optometrist of the Year twice, in 1992 and again in 2003. He was appointed to the Idaho Board of Optometry by governor Cecil Andrus and served 6 years in this capacity. He is currently on the Board of Directors of VSP, the nation's largest vision insurance company, serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors from 2014-2016.
Dr. Lee is married, his wife Aline is a RN at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center. His two daughters, Jenny and Hannah, both reside in Boise area. Jenny attended Boise State and Hannah attended Pacific University.
The Optometric Center is one of the oldest eye care practices in Boise. It was originally founded by Dr. Glen Taylor in the 1920's and was located in the Old Union
Block Building. Dr. Robert Magwire replaced Dr. Taylor in 1961 and moved the practice to Fairview Avenue near Cole Rd. Dr. Lee joined the practice in 1978 and assumed sole-ownership in 1991. For several years the practice was located on Curtis Rd, across from St. Al's and was moved to it's current location in 1998.
Dr. Lee works part-time now and intends to continue in this capacity for many years. He enjoys golf and loves to ride his bike. He and his wife also like to travel and spend time at a family cabin near Cascade.
Melissa has worked at Optometric Center, P.A. the past 13 years in many various roles and is now the Office Manager. She was on the Idaho Optometric Physicians Paraoptometric Board for 8 years, and in 2007 and 2014 received the Idaho Paraoptometric of the Year award. She graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in May 2015 and plans to attend Graduate School for Optometry. She is married to Jeremy and has two sons, Miles and Gage.
Sarah is a certified Paraoptometric and has 15 years experience in being an optometric assistant. She has been with the Optometric Center since 2010. Sarah was born and raised in Boise. She is married with two teenagers.
